Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal for Research in Chemistry (IJRC) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scientific publishing. All submitted manuscripts must present original research, accurate reporting, and appropriate acknowledgment of previously published work.

15%
THRESHOLD

Similarity Assessment

A similarity index of up to 15% may be considered acceptable when the overlap is legitimate and sources are properly acknowledged. The similarity score alone does not determine acceptance; every report is evaluated in context by the editors.

01

Defining Plagiarism and Misconduct

Plagiarism involves using another person's ideas, text, data, results, figures, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment. It may include direct copying, inadequate citation, improper paraphrasing, duplicate publication, and undisclosed reuse of previously published material.

02

Similarity Screening and Verification

IJRC may use established similarity-checking tools to identify potential text overlap and support editorial assessment. Editors examine the reports to distinguish properly cited material and standard scientific terminology from potentially problematic duplication.

A low similarity score does not automatically establish originality, and a higher score does not necessarily prove plagiarism.

03

Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that their submissions are original, accurately reported, and properly referenced. They are also responsible for obtaining necessary permissions for third-party content and disclosing substantial overlap with their own previously published work.

If generative AI tools are used in manuscript preparation, authors must follow the journal's applicable AI policy and remain accountable for the accuracy, originality, attribution, and integrity of the submitted work.

Enforcement Policy

Suspected plagiarism or other publication misconduct will be investigated using appropriate editorial procedures and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) . Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, the journal may reject a submission, request clarification or correction, or take further action, including retraction of a published article where warranted.

Statement of Originality

By submitting a manuscript to the International Journal for Research in Chemistry (IJRC), authors confirm that their work is original, all relevant sources are acknowledged, and the manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics requirements. IJRC aims to promote transparency, responsible research practices, and the integrity of scientific literature in chemistry and related disciplines.
